Obituary

Funeral services for Maria "Sara" Montez, 68, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wood-Dunning Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Roger Munoz officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Montez died Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, in Lubbock. She was born April 12, 1940, in Brownsville to Raul Perales Lozano and Jesusa Castaneda Perales. She married Angel Montez on Sept. 22, 1962, in Plainview. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Daniel Montez of Amarillo and David Monte of Lubbock; one daughter, Naomi Tinoco of Plainview; two brothers, Toby Perales of Plainview and Jack Perales of Mesquite; five sisters, Mary Vallego of Amarillo, Gloria Shoemaker and Susie Nava of Plainview, Pat Montes of San Antonio and Adela Perales; and three grandchildren. Her parents are deceased.
