Obituary

Maria Montes, 68, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011. Services for Maria will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Ministerios Nueva Vida with Pastor Genaro Martinez officiating. Burial will follow in Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Calvillo Funeral Home. There will be a celebration service held tonight at Calvillo Funeral Home at 7 p.m.

Maria was born on Jan. 3, 1943, in Eden to Domingo and Margarita Rosas. She married Rito Montes Feb. 19, 1962, in Lubbock. She was homemaker and a lifelong resident of Wolfforth and was a faithful member of Minsterios Nueva Vida. Those who knew her could understand her love and devotion for her family and Christ.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Rito Montes Sr. of Wolfforth; three sons and daughter-in-law, Rito Montes Jr., Rafael Montes, and Ramiro and Dalia Montes, all of Lubbock; two daughters and sons- in-law, Rebecca and Tony Salinas, and Rosemary and Mike Leal, all of Lubbock; four brothers, Ben and Mary Rosas of Abernathy, Ruben and Irma Rosas of Petersburg, Roy and Ruby Rosas of Slaton, and Salvador Rosas of Idalou; three sisters, Alice Martinez, Janie Rosas, both of Amarillo, and Margie and Trine Soto of Idalou; 19 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Her mother preceded her in death on the same day she went to be with the Lord 26 years ago.
