Obituary

Funeral Mass for Dorothy Joanne Monroe, 70, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Alice Catholic Church with the Rev. Jim McCartney, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Monroe died at 12:14 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2005, at her residence. She was born June 17, 1934, in Natick, Mass., where she grew up. She married Carroll Eugene "C.E." Monroe on July 1. 1960 in Plainview and she and her husband farmed west of Plainview until his death on Sept. 5, 2002. She was a member of St. Alice Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Angela Diane Monroe of Palmdale, Calif., and Toka Ray Monroe of Lubbock; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Robert Edward and Debbie Monroe, Carroll Eugene Monroe Jr., and Alan Lee and Cynthia Elaine Monroe, all of Plainview; one brother, Robert F. Rullie of Framingham, Mass.; one sister, Elizabeth H. Bagley of West Palm Beach, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. today at St. Alice Church. The family suggests memorials to Covenant Foundation, c/o Joe Arrington Cancer Center, 2201 Oxford, Ste. 106, Lubbock, TX 79410.
