Obituary
Funeral services for Truman Miller, 80, will be at 3 p.m. Monday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. A.C. Hamilton, retired Baptist minister. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Miller died at 3 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001, in IHS Heritage Home of Plainview. He was born Jan. 11, 1921, in Pickton where he grew up and graduated from Pickton High School in 1939. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942 and trained at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho and in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in England and received the European Theater of Operations Ribbon, Bronze Star, Silver Star, Presidential Citation, Good Conduct Medal and other honors. After military service, he moved to Plainview in 1946 and worked for Green Machinery for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He married Ruth Jarrett on June 20, 1942, in Pickton. He was a deacon at College Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife; a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Don Robertson of Plainview; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Karen Miller of Georgetown; a sister, Fannie Browning of Pickton; seven grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
