Obituary

Funeral services for Irene Alice Merrill, 84, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. Tom Mullins, pastor of Abundant Life Church in Dimmitt, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Merrill died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at her residence. She was born July 23, 1917, in Elmer, Okla. She attended Lubbock area schools and moved to Plainview in 1973 from Petersburg. She was a homemaker and a member of Colonial Baptist Church. On April 15, 1934, she married Ted Merrill in Slide. He died Aug. 29, 1988, in Plainview. Survivors include one daughter, Sue "Suzi" Montgomery of Plainview, one son, Bobby Merrill of Fort Worth; one brother, Loy Burch of Amarillo; one sister, Ruby Ramsey of Mineral Wells; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one sister are deceased. The family suggests memorials to VistaCare Family Hospice or Gideons International.
