Obituary

Services for Lily "Jackie" Mercer, 90, of Silverton will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Plainview with the Rev. Bruce Green officiating. She will be cremated under the direction of Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mercer died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012. She was born on Jan. 1, 1922, in Breckenridge to Jack and Lily Wofford. She was a lifelong farmer and rancher. She graduated from Silverton High School and West Texas State College with a master's degree. She was a teacher at Silverton ISD and librarian for many years at Silverton Library. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Plainview. She is survived by a son, Mike Mercer and wife Janet of Perrin; daughter Junis Hutsell of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
