Agracino Mendez ABERNATHY -- Funeral Mass for Agracino Mendez, 77, of Slaton, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Isidore Catholic Church with the Rev. Arnold Bravo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Rosary will be recited at 7:45 p.m. Monday at the church. Mr. Mendez died at his daughter's home in Lubbock on Friday, April 2, 2004. He was born Dec. 18, 1926, in Cameron and married Margarita Rosales on Sept. 20, 1953, in Abernathy. He served in the United States Navy from 1945-46. He had lived in Slaton, Lubbock and Abernathy and was a Catholic. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Agracino Mendez Jr., Jesus Mendez and Bobby Mendez, all of Slaton; six daughters, Maria Torres, Josephine Mendez and Rita Mendez, all of Lubbock, Irene Lopez of Plainview, Frances Mendez of Dallas and Dominga Lopez of Garland; two sisters, Maria Medin of Houston and Guadalupe Mendoza of Ralls; 35 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Juanita Garcia, died in 1990.
