Obituary
Harley Meek, 90, of Plainview passed away on Jan. 15, 2013 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe P. Weldon and the Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Harley was born on Aug. 30, 1922, in Goodlett, Texas, to Tom and Mea Meek. He grew up in and attended schools in Goodlett. He served during WWII in the United States Air Force. He returned from the service, and he farmed in the Plainview area more than 60 years. Harley was very active and influential in the American Agriculture Movement. He was a member and deacon of Parkview Baptist Church and served on the board of directors of the Hi-Plains Hospital District in Hale Center. He was also a 4-H volunteer while his children were growing up. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda Meek; one son, Marvin Meek; two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include a daughter, Regina Edmiston of Farmington; one brother, Wayne Meek of Weatherford, Texas; one sister, Rosa McDowell of Fort Worth; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
