Funeral services for Clarence W. Medlin, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wood-Dunning Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Ron Brunson, pastor of New Covenant Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral home. Mr. Medlin died Sunday, Dec. 9, 2001, at his residence. He was born Dec. 29, 1916, in Canadian and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He attended John Brown University in Arkansas. He worked as a brakeman for the Santa Fe Railroad, operated the Helium Plant in San Diego, Calif., worked for Harvest Queen Mill for several years, was an independent truck driver and operated a cattle ranch in the 70s. He drove for Plains Transport in Amarillo, retiring in 1990. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a life member of Khiva Shrine. On May 5, 1935, he married Elizabeth Mayhugh in Plainview. She died April 25, 1993. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Juanita "Scoot" and Harlan Barnett and Sue and Lynwood Rubac, all of Temple; a son and daughter-in-olaw, Lloyd "Buzzy" and Pat Medlin of Plainview; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Twin sons, Clarence and Clyde Medlin, died in 1936. The family suggests memorials to the Shriner?s Burn Hospital.
