Obituary

Juan Medina, age 84, of Plainview, passed away, April 18, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2013 at Lemons Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Plainview Memorial Park. Arrangements under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. He was born on May 27, 1928, in Beeville, Texas, to Edward and Benita (Ortiz) Medina. He married Hortencia Balderas in Odem, Texas, on Sept. 27, 1955. They moved to Tulia in 1960, relocating to Plainview in 1970. He resided there until his death. Mr. Medina was employed in livestock operations. His favorite hobby was fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Maggie Heilman, sons; Henry and Juan Manuel Medina, sisters; Ramona Oballe, Dominga Medina, and granddaughter Stephanie Garcia. Survivors include his wife, Hortencia Medina; two sons, Robert Medina and wife Tess of Lubbock and David Medina and wife Julie of Plainview; five daughters, Lupe Georgeous and husband Jimmy of Cleveland, Elena Ybarra and husband David of Amarillo, Silvia Gomez and husband David of Duncanville, Wendy Medina of Plainview and Gracie Sanchez and husband Jimmy of Amarillo; three brothers, Edwardo Medina of Marble Falls, Esteban and Juanita Medina of Shaftner, Calif., and Adam Medina of Odem; and sister Delores Esquivel of Louisiana. He is also survived by t24 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
