Obituary

Memorial services for Mitchell Charles Meals, 67 of Plainview will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 21, 2013 at Bartley Memorial Chapel. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. Mr. Meals passed away on Thursday September 12, 2013 in Plainview. He was born on November 26, 1945 in Paris, Texas to Charles, Sr. and Annie Meals. He grew up in that area "down home" as he called it. He later moved to Plainview, Texas where he worked at the Plainview Independent School District. He helped raise several children whom he considered his own, (The Hunters of Abilene, TX). He enjoyed various things, sitting around talking about family, listening to the Blues, hanging with his nephews, but mostly "Women". He will truly be missed by many. Mitchell leaves to cherish his memories with his 6 brothers, Lester Joe Meals of Lawton, OK, Julius Lee Meals, Sr. of Del City, OK, Ronnie Mack Meals of Plainview, Dewey Wayne Meals of Tulia, TX, Ricky Meals of El Paso, TX and Donald Luis Meals of Atlanta, Georgia; 1 sister, Diann Pitts of Plainview; A special niece, LaShonda Hunter of Abilene, TX; 2 special nephews, Rodney "Boscoe" White and Khaz Heads a.k.a. "His Eldest Son"; A special friend, Rodney Tinner and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles, Sr. and Annie B. Meals; 2 brothers, Alonzo and Charles, Jr. "Honey" Meals.
