McMurtry, Merle Dawson, Mrs. (Rosa Lie Brown)

Funeral services for Rosa Lie Brown McMurtry, 72, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in College Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mrs. McMurtry died at 11:55 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, 2000, in Baylor Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 28, 1928, in Plainview where she grew up. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1946 and attended Baylor University of Nursing in Dallas, Baylor University School of Anesthesia and attended Wayland Baptist University. She was a freelance anesthesiologist and had worked at Nichols Hospital, Plainview Hospital and Roswell Memorial Hospital. She also worked for the Plainview-Hale County Health Department.

She was a member of College Heights Baptist Church, a life member of Beta Sigma Phi fraternity and was a past member of the Civil Air Patrol and Business and Professional Women. She also was a volunteer for American Cancer Society and Hospice.

On July 3, 1974, she married Merle McMurtry in Plainview. He died April 2, 1998.

Survivors include two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Haskell and Vivian Spain and Emmy Spain, all of Plainview and Ray and Faye Brown of Keller.

The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society or the Nila Copeland Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 1695, Plainview, TX 79072.
