Obituary

LUBBOCK - Funeral services for A.L. "Mutt" McMinn, 75, were at 1 p.m. Monday in South Plains Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Hugh Harris and the Rev. Rick Oliphint officiating. Burial, with Lubbock Police Department honors, were in Center Plains Cemetery west of Hale Center by Rix Funeral Directors.

Mr. McMinn died Friday, Feb. 1, 2002 in Covenant Medical Center. He was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Hale Center where he grew up and graduated from high school. He graduated from Life Bible College and served with the U.S. Army in Korean and the Philippines. He worked in the oil fields and for Shook Tire Co., before joining law enforcement. He worked with the Lubbock Police Department for 28 years and for the Lubbock Sheriff?s Office for 11 years as court bailiff. For 29 years he was chief of security at United Supermarkets. He was a member of Faith Temple and Retired Lubbock Police Officers Association. On Aug. 6, 1950, he married Flossie Bradford in Plainview.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve McMinn of Houston and Larry McMinn of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Pam McMinn of Lubbock and Melissa Bayless of Abilene; a sister, Loraine Rape of Amarillo; and 10 grandchildren.
