Obituary
Funeral services for Denzil McMillan, 77, of Plainview, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Earl Blair and the Rev. Horace Abbott officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton. Mr. McMillan passed away Friday, June 17, 2005, in Plainview. He was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Petersburg to Willie David and Florence Maude (Green) McMillan. On Sept. 8, 1949, he married Jeane Potts in McAdoo, Texas. He was a graduate of Crosbyton High School and a 1950 graduate of Texas Tech. He received his Certified Public Accountant license in 1957 and the same year moved to Plainview from Lubbock. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and served as district trustee for Plainview for the United Methodist Churches. He served as treasurer at Trinity Methodist Church for years. He was a member of the Noon Optimist Club and Plainview Lions Club. He was the scorekeeper for summer baseball games for many years and McMillan Field was named for him and his wife. He was a member of the Plainview Masonic Lodge 709, Commandery #53 in Plainview and the Knights Templar of Texas. He was a member of the Texas Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Dawn McMillan and Tommy and Susan McMillan, all of Plainview; two brothers and sisters-in-law, W.B. McMillan and Bernice and Bennie McMillan, all of Lubbock; a sister, Wynn Nona McMillan of Satana, Kan.; grandchildren, Brett and Jill McMillan of Frisco, Texas; Lori Johnston of Plainview and her husband, Capt. James Johnston, who is stationed in Mosul, Iraq; Lance McMillan of Dallas; Chance McMillan of Plainview and his fianc? Kelsey Charron of Pampa; and a great-granddaughter, Rileigh Faith Johnston of Plainview. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nelda Griffin. Mr. McMillan's body will be at Kornerstone Funeral Directors at 201 W. Fourth St. in Plainview until noon Monday with family visitation from 1-2 p.m. today.
