McMennamy, Melvin

Funeral services for Melvin McMennamy, 62, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, and the Rev. Kelly Warren, pastor of First Baptist Church at Claytonville, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. McMennamy died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2000, in Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born June 5, 1938, in Hale Center. He moved to Plainview in 1947 and graduated from Plainview High School in 1947 and graduated from Plainview High School in 1956. He attended West Texas State University. He worked for Cloverlake from 1958 to 1966 and for Rainbow Bread. In 1967 he began working for England Supplies and ran an out-of-town route. He purchased England?s in 1976.

He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, the Downtown Association, served on the board of the Chamber of Commerce and Business After Hours. He was a member of First Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school for two year-olds for 35 years.

On June 11, 1960, he married Royce Lynn Pyeatt in Hart.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, D?Ann and Robert McGuire of Shallowater and Deedra and Gary Bowles of Longview; his mother, Alice McMennamy of Plainview; a brother and sister-in-law, Barry and Janie McMennamy of Plainview; five grandchildren, Bryann, mica and James McGuire of Shallowater and Brandon and Keeley Bowles of Longview; and two nieces, Tonjua Smith and Teresa Kinkaid, both of Plainview.

His father, T.D. McMennamy, died in 1997 and a son Jon David McMennamy, died in 1966.

Pallbearers will be Joe Leach, Bobby Martin, Ray Bain, Vergil Kunkel, David Wilder and Thomas Richbrug. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilburn England and Vic Green.
