McKenzie, Don L.

ABERNATHY- Services for Don L. McKenzie, 83, of Abernathy, Texas will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike O'Donnell officiating. Burial will follow in the Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home and Flower Shop of Abernathy, Texas. The family will receive friends at Abell Funeral Home Wednesday from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Mr. McKenzie was born January 14, 1929 in Abernathy and married Janice Neve on September 19, 1958 in Abernathy. He was a lifelong Abernathy resident and was a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM 1142. He served in the U.S. Army in Ko rea. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Gouldy.

He is survived by his wife, Janice of Abernathy, Texas; two sons, Gary McKenzie and Jimmy McKenzie and his wife Jana all of Lubbock, Texas; daughter, Vicky McKenzie of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren, Ashleigh and husband Michael of Lubbock, Texas, and Tanner of Lubbock, Jordan of Ft. Worth, Texas and Jace also of Lubbock; one great-grandson, Shane; and a great-granddaughter, Avery, to be born in July. The family suggests memorials be sent to a favorite charity.
