Obituary

Ella Jane (Luster) McGuire, 92, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at her residence in Plainview. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Doug Yates officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. She was born on Sept. 27, 1915, in Howard County, Ark., to Altie Wikerson and Thomas H. Luster. The family moved to Plainview in 1924. After attending school in Plainview, Ella began working in the family business, Luster's Laundry, at an early age, washing socks by hand on a small rub board. She married John Lewis McGuire on Nov. 19, 1936, in Plainview. They later took over ownership of the family business and operated it until their retirement in 1974. She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene. Ella is survived by two daughters, Pat Marse and husband, John, of Plainview, and Susan Kay Bressler and husband, Rick, of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; five grandchildren, Jimmie Lewis Kelley and wife, Susan, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., DeLynn Wardlow and husband, Karl, of Plainview, David Kelly of St. Petersburg, Fla., Heather Clemmer and husband, Jason, of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Amanda Kruger and husband, James, of Jacksonville, Fla.; five great-grandchildren, Carissa Wardlow and Kailey Wardlow of Plainview, MacKenzie Kelly and Conor Kelly of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Jonathan Clemmer of Oklahoma City, Okla. Her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. The family wishes to acknowledge the special loving care given to Ella for five years by Laverne Shannon of Kress and her daughter, Glenda, as well as care given to Ella in the last few weeks by Rosetta Bradley, Hazel McCray, Ruby Owens and Peggy Parr. The family suggests memorials to First Church of the Nazarene, 2610 W. 20th, Plainview, TX 79072, or Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla.
