Obituary

Betty Jean Lyde McGaugh, 83, formerly of Plainview, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2010, in Montgomery, Texas. Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, Oct. 28, 2010, at Lemons Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at Parklawn Memorial Park in Plainview with Don Hegi officiating. Services are under the direction of Lemons Funeral Home. Betty was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Childress, Texas, to Ernest and Hattie Blake Lyde and attended school in Arlie and Petersburg. Betty and Henry Lee "Shorty" McGaugh were married May 12, 1945, in Clovis, N.M. Shorty preceded her in death on Feb. 6, 1999. Betty loved to cook and play dominoes. She is remembered by her family as someone who couldn't sit still and was busy all the time. Betty was a member of Ninth Street and Columbia Church of Christ. Betty is survived by her children: son, Rick McGaugh and his wife, Melinda, of Lubbock; daughter, Rhonda Harrison and her husband, Phil, of West Columbia, Texas; and son, Reggy McGaugh and his wife, Dianna, of Montgomery, Texas; a brother, Bill Lyde of Coppell, Texas; three grandchildren, Gregory McGaugh, Amber McGaugh and Trae Harrison; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan and Landon McGaugh and Audrey Harrison. She also was preceded in death by her brothers, Blake Lyde and Noble Lyde, and her sisters, Alene Covey and Jewell Trantham.
