AMARILLO - Funeral services for LaVern McGaha, 78, former Plainview resident, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Wayne Smith officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Plainview Memorial Park by Memorial Park Funeral Home. Mrs. McGaha died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, in Amarillo. She was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Clyde. She graduated from Lippert?s Business College in Plainview and was a volunteer for various organizations. After moving to Amarillo she was assistant director for the student teaching department at West Texas State University for 22 years. She retired in 1985. She was a member of Plainview United Methodist Church and the Panhandle Genealogy Society. On March 31, 1946, she married George Thomas
"Quick Lunch Tommy" McGaha. He died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Covey Joe McGaha of Owasso, Okla., and Herman Mark McGaha of Amarillo; a daughter, Marilyn Janet Slane of Amarillo; a brother, Herman D. Cundiff of Seguin; two sisters, Dottie Jobe of Pea Ridge, Ark., and Joyce Dyer Silkwood of Amarillo; five grandchildren, and a brother-in-law and his wife, Billy and Burlene Applewhite of Amarillo. A brother, Milfred "Pete" Cundiff died in 1983. The family suggests memorials to Crown of Texas Hospice.
