Funeral services for Robert "Pete" McDonald, 84, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. McDonald died at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in Covenant Hospital Plainview. He was born Feb. 26, 1920, in Muncy to John and Sally McDonald. He attended Lockney and Plainview schools. He started McDonald Trading Post with his dad and a brother, Charley (deceased), in 1936 where the Central Fire Station is presently located. He moved the business to its present location in 1949. He married Evalene Henderson on Oct. 1, 1947, in Plainview. He was in the 6th Air Craft Repair Unit during World War II. He became an auctioneer after returning from the service. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and VFW and a member of Elks Club and First Baptist Church. He was chosen as Pioneer Man of the Year in 2004. Survivors include his wife; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Karla McDonald and David and Doris McDonald, all of Plainview; two sisters, Nita McWilliams of Kerrville and Dorothy Lewis of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Holley Pinson and her husband Brandon, Kip McDonald, Crystal McDonald and Clay McDonald.
