Obituary

Mary Jo McCreless, 85, of Canyon passed away on Nov. 10, 2014, in Amarillo. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, in Lemons Memorial Chapel with Chaplin Bryan Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Memorial Park under the care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mrs. McCreless was born on Sept. 26, 1929, in Fyffe, Ala., to the late Ted and Artel (Bell) Dawson. She graduated from Fyffe High School, and then attended and graduated from teaching school. Mrs. McCreless married Willard McCreless on Nov. 7, 1949, in Georgia. He preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1996. She was known for her love of gardening, and anything that had to do with outdoor yard work. She was also a member of Date Street Baptist Church. Mrs. McCreless is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Artel, and husband Willard. Those left to cherish her memory are: one son Bruce McCreless, three daughters, Renee Parks, Denise Munson and Lisa Cox, one brother Jack Dawson, and two sisters, Dot Bowen and Kat Parks. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, Wesley Holt, Chantry Myer, Cassie Holt, Dakota Myer, Nicole Rendon and Callie Munson, and two great-grandchildren, Addilyn Shay Hernandez and Mila Rose Holt.
