Obituary

Funeral services for Emma Frances McCluskey, 81, were at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Rev. John Lowrie, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Center Plains Cemetery at Cotton Center by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mrs. McCluskey died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, in Lubbock. She was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Cotton Center and graduated from Cotton Center High School in 1941, from Wayland Baptist Junior College in 1943 and West Texas State College in 1945 with a degree in home economics. She was a school teacher for 27 years, teaching in Monahans, Forsan, Cotton Center and Friona. She married C.H. McCluskey on April 6, 1947. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught an adult women's Sunday school class for 40 years. She was a member of the 1935 Study Club and Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association and Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Jim McCright of Stamford; one sister, Martha Lou Burnett of Cotton Center; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Davene Sageser of Cotton Center and Max and Joan Sageser of Earth; and three grandchildren, Jamie Mote and her husband Jim Bob of Happy, Kevin McCright and his wife Jaime of Stamford and Bobby Joe Beach of Tahoka. A daughter, Emma Jo Cook, died in March 2000.
