Funeral services for Leedy Maxey, 87, will be at 2p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Max Browning, pastor, 0fficiting.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Maxey died at 2:01 a.m. Sunday, Jan.3, 1999, in Covenant Hospital Plainview.

He was born Oct. 2, 1911, in Carrollton, the son of the late Roy and Ruth Maxey. He moved with his parents to Plainview in December of 1911. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1933 and began work with the Plainview Fire Department. He served 42 months with the U.S. Air force during World War 11 and after his discharge, returned to the Fire department. He became fire chief on Nov. 15, 1956 and held that position until retirement in 1973.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

On Oct. 4, 1956, he married Elsie Young in Clovis, N.M.

Survivors include his wife.
