Matthews, Royce, Mrs. (Virginia)

HALE CENTER- Graveside services for Virginia Matthews, 81, were at 10a.m. today in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview with Randy Butler of First Baptist Church in Denver City officiating.

Burial arrangements were by Freeman- Abell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Matthews died Monday, July 21, 2003, in University Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Dilley. She was a longtime resident of Hale Center and a member of First Baptist Church. She was an accomplished artist.

On Sept. 25, 1940, she married Royce Matthews in Whitharral. He died June 19, 1992.

Survivors include a daughter, Janie Flanagan of Lamesa; a brother, Morris Keeney of Durham, Calif.; a sister, Rebecca Stewart of Fort Worth; a grandson, Chris Ferguson of Farmer?s Branch; and a great granddaughter, Willa Ferguson of Farmer?s Branch.

The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity or to the Whitharral Cemetery Fun, Box 1566, Levelland, TX 79336.
