Obituary

German Dominguez Mata, 35, of Amarillo, passed away at Northwest Hospital on Sunday, July 7, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2013, at Lemons Memorial Chapel with Hospice Chaplain Oscar Chavez officiating. Interment will follow in Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Open visitation will be at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, July 11, with a scheduled visitation from 6-8 p.m. when the family will be present to receive guests. German, aka "Pablo," was born on June 6, 1978 in Plainview to Rolando Martinez and Esperanza Mata. He attended school in Plainview and became a master carpenter. He was very good at it and loved building things for his home and for friends and family. German was always smiling, greeted everyone with a smile, and had a knack for cheering up people. He had a beautiful voice, loved to sing and dance, and enjoyed music, particularly Spanish music. His family always knew when he was around because he had a way of just being loud all the time. German might not have attended church, but he loved God and His son, Jesus Christ. German will be deeply missed by family and friends. German is survived by his mother, Esperanza Mata; his grandmother, Corina Dominguez; and his great-grandmother, Conrada Dominguez, all of Plainview; his brothers, David Schmidt of Plainview and Antonio Schmidt and his wife Kim of Dallas; his sister, Stephanie Crystal of Lubbock; uncles and aunts Jessie Mata, Virginia Dominguez, Connie Galvan and her husband Genaro, Bruno Mata, and Jerry Mata, all of Plainview, George Mata of Amarillo and Criselda Mata of Plainview.
