Obituary

Services for Raul "Rudy" Martinez, age 74, of Plainview were at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at Bartley Memorial Chapel with Pastor Eddie Soto of Centro Oracion officiating. Burial followed at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. He died on Dec. 26, 2013, in Plainview. He was born to Tiburcio Martinez and Francisca Borrego on Sept. 7, 1939, in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico. He owned an upholstery shop and a record shop in Plainview. Survivors include three sons, Cristoval Martinez with wife Angel of Kyle, Texas, Miguel Angel Martinez of San Marcos, Texas, and Jacob Martinez of Pampa, Texas; two daughters, Eunice "E.J." Tijerina with husband Freddie of Lubbock and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Martinez of Del Rio, Texas; four brothers, Ruben Borrego with wife Sally of Plainview, Arturo Borrego with wife Reyna of Plainview, Reginaldo Borrego with wife Rosa of Kress, and Alfredo Borrego with wife Juanita of Altus, Okla.; three sisters, Oralia Castillo with husband Carlos of Plainview, Guadalupe Gutierrez with husband Felix of Oak Cliff, Texas, and Yolanda Trevino with husband Ismael of Peoria, Ill. Survivors also include four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and stepfather, and three brothers. The family received visitors at 1 p.m. Monday at Bartley Funeral Home, prior to the services.
