Obituary

Funeral services for Carlos Martinez, 69, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Rivers of Living Water Church in Hale Center with the Rev. Salvador Artiaga officiating. Burial will follow at Hale Center Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. A celebration service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Lemons Memorial Chapel. Mr. Martinez died Friday, March 6, 2009, in Plainview. He was born June 16, 1938, in El Paso to Carlos and Guadalupe Martinez. He married Teresa Balderas in 1962 in Hale Center. He worked for Hi Plains Concrete for many years as a truck driver. Survivors include his wife; his mother; three sons, Fermin Martinez of Midland, Carlos Martinez of Plainview and Ruben and his wife Gloria of Plainview; two sisters, Virginia Martinez of Hale Center and Maria Benavidez of Burley, Idaho; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. His father and two brothers, Juan Martinez and Francisco Martinez, are deceased.
