Obituary

Funeral Mass for Angel Martinez, 63, of Kress will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Arsenio Redulla officiating. Burial will follow at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Martinez died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, in Amarillo. He was born March 5, 1950, in Paducah, Texas, to Demetrio and Maria Martinez. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1968. He was class favorite his freshmen, sophomore, junior and senior year. He was a member of the Golden Gloves Boxing Club. He was a veteran and served in Vietnam. He was a car salesman. He is survived by two sisters, Susie Vera and husband Arthur of Plainview and Rosa Rodriquez and husband Manuel of Hixson, Tenn.; and seven brothers, Billy Martinez and wife Janice of Warrenton, Mo., Joe Martinez and wife Beatrice of Plainview, George Martinez and wife Lena of Muleshoe, Lee Martinez and wife Sandy of Sagnaw, Texas, Eliseo Martinez and wife Margaret of New Caney, Texas., Ricky Martinez and wife Eva of Hale Center and Johnny Martinez of Pampa. He is preceded in death by both parents, one sister, Elida Martinez; and three brothers, Benito, Demetrio and Jerry Martinez.
