Obituary

Maria Felipa Martinez, 87, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015, surrounded by family. A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Lemons Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Our Lady of Guadalupe. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery. Funeral service arrangements are under the care of Lemons Funeral Home. Felipa was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Charcas San Luis Potosi, Mexico, to Juan Rodriguez and Apolonia Nerio. She married Abraham Martinez Sr. in 1947 in San Nicolas de La Garzas. Her family moved to Plainview from Raymondville, Texas, in 1968. They were married until his passing in July 1994. Felipa enjoyed a life of ranching with her husband, and they supported the State Trooper Organization. She enjoyed attending church at Primera Iglesia Bautista. Felipa was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister and two sons. Her survivors include five sons, Abraham Martinez Jr., Raul Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Edward Martinez and Rogelio Martinez; two daughters, Elena Navarrete and Blanca Lopez; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Isabel Gonzales Rodriguez and Maria del Socorro Diaz.
