Martin, Randall C., Mrs. (Brenda Whitehead)

Funeral services for Brenda Martin, 45, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Hart, pastor, officiating.

Mrs. Martin died Sunday morning, May 23, 1999, in Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock of complications from leukemia.

Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Lemons Funeral Home.

She was born May 17, 1954, in Amarillo and graduated from Plainview High School in 1972.

She received her degree in music education from Baylor University in 1976 and also had her kindergarten endorsement from Texas Tech.

She had taught music in kindergarten here since 1987, serving at Thunderbird, College Hill and Highland Schools. She also had taught in Killen, Waco and Petersburg.

She was a life member of PTA, had received several teaching honors and was a member of Texas Music Educators Associating and Music Educators National Conference.

She married Randall Martin on March 3, 1973, in Plainview. He died Feb. 23, 1997 in Houston.

She was a member of First Baptist Church where she played the piano for children?s choirs, for the Ladies Ensemble and for special events.

Surviving are her parents, Truitt and Joyce Whitehead of Plainview; a sister, Lou Ann Hinn of Plainview; and a brother, Steve Whitehead of Dallas.

Pallbearers will be Gary Garrison, Vic Garrison, Kenneth Coates, L.D. Williams, Ricky Cross and Lanny Voss.

The Brenda Martin Memorial Music Scholarship has been established at State National Bank, 2804 W. Fifth in Plainview.
