Obituary

Funeral services for Betty Martin, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Southcrest Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Wilson, Rev. Brad Jurkovich and John Burke officiating. Burial will be at noon in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home. Ms. Martin died Monday, June 14, 2004, in Abundant Care Assisted Living. She was born Jan 6, 1927, in Matador, the daughter of John M. and Belva Boyett Kingery. She graduated from Plainview High School and attended Texas Tech University. She retired from Belmar Furniture Manufacturing Company as a sales representative and later worked for Home Health Care, assisting with elderly care. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church and Women's 1 Sunday School Class. On June 9, 1946, she married Joe F. Martin in Halfway. He died Feb. 28, 2001. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Bob Mayne of Lubbock; a son and daughter-in-law, Joe Michael and Janie Martin of San Antonio; three sisters, Ruby Goates of Odessa, Lorene Sands of Irving and Dorothy Powell of Clifton; and one granddaughter. A brother, David Kingery; a sister, Ruth Armstrong, and a nephew are deceased. The family suggests memorials to Southcrest Building Fund, 3801 S. Loop 289, Lubbock, TX 79423. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. today at Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home, 4444 S., Loop 289. DEATH NOTICES
