Obituary

Funeral services for Alene Martin, 95, of Plainview will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mrs. Martin died Tuesday, May 3, 2011, in Lubbock. She was born Aug. 3, 1915, in Stanton, Martin County, Texas, to Chalmer and Susan Norton. She grew up in Whiteflat where she attended school and graduated. She married Joe B. Martin on Dec. 24, 1935, in Floydada. They moved to Plainview in 1955. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to her family. Mrs. Martin was a member of College Heights Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe B. Martin; her parents, Chalmer and Susan Norton; one brother; and five sisters. Survivors include her son, Joe A. Martin and his wife, Reta, of Plain?view; three granddaughters, Vickie Webb and her husband, David, of Grapevine, Cindy McAnally and her husband, Randall, of Brownwood and Susan Devine and her husband, Bill, of Allen; five great-grandchildren, Russell James and his wife, Lakann, of Phoenix, Ariz., Tyler James and his wife, Terra, of Amarillo, Christopher McAnally and Carson McAnally, both of Brownwood, and Chase Devine of Allen.
