Martin, Joe B

Graveside services for Joe B. Martin will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Martin died at 8:34 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2003, in Prairie Living Center.

He was born Oct 23, 1913 in Goree and attended schools in Matador. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He lived in Floydada for several years and moved to Plainview in 1955. He farmed in the Kress and Plainview area until retiring in 1976. He served as president of the Swisher Co-op Gin board and commander of the Floydada VFW. He was a member of Floydada Masonic Lodge and received his 50-year pin.

He married Alene Norton on Dec. 24, 1935 in Floydada.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Joe A. Martin of Plainview; three brothers, Lynn of Clovis, N.M., Glenn of Las Vegas, Nev. And B.V. Jr. of Coal Springs; three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Four brothers and three sisters deceased.

The family suggests memorials to College Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 802 Quincy, Plainview 79072.
