Obituary

Charlotte Cate Martin, 61, of Caldwell passed away Sunday, May 15, 2011, at her home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with the Rev. Joel Perez officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, May 17, 2011, at the funeral home. Charlotte was born Aug. 29, 1949, in Hale Center, Texas, to George and Millie Cate. In the late 1980s she moved to Lubbock where she met her husband, Gary Martin. They married June 18, 1994, and made their home in Shallowater, Texas. In 2008 they moved to Caldwell, Texas, where they built their retirement home together. She was working in Dallas as an independent insurance adjuster for the past 12 years. She previously worked as a dialysis technician for many years in Lubbock, Hereford and Odessa. Survivors include her husband, Gary Martin, of 17 wonderful years; one son, Barton Nixon and his wife, Theresa, of Ralls, Texas; two stepsons, Kyle Martin and his wife, Chrissona, of Trenton, Texas, and Mark Nixon of Independence, Mo.; two stepdaughters, LaShae Martin of Mesquite, Texas, and Debbie Dury of Independence, Mo.; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Alvie Jones and his wife, Irene, of Fairfield, Calif., James Cate and his wife, Reda, Freddy Cate and his wife, Lynda, Nancy Greer and her husband, Fred, and Charles Cate, all of Plainview, Joe Cate and his wife, Carolyn, Billy Ray Cate and Vita Sherrill, all of Lubbock, and Thelma Rowlett and her husband, Paul, of Amarillo, Texas.
