Petersburg-- Funeral service for Charlie Irvin Martin, 92, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Main Street Church of Christ with Eric Robinson and Mac Chance, grandsons-in-law, officiating.

Burial will be in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home of Idalou.

Mr. Martin died Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, in Petersburg.

He was born Aptil 2, 1911, in Petersburg, the son of Albert Sidney Johnston and Nettie Blanch White Martin. He attended Petersburg schools.

He moved to Farwell in 1967 and back to Petersburg in 1968.

He was an automobile mechanic, dairyman, road construction worker and farmer before retiring.

He was a member of Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department, Petersburg Band Boosters, PTA, Petersburg Senior Citizens, Hale County RSVP and Eastside Church of Christ.

On Dec. 27, 1934, he married Jewell Pauline Linn in Lubbock. She died Jan. 26, 1996.

Survivors include two daughters, Judy M. Bowyer of Garland and Mary Beth Inman of Petersburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The body will be at the funeral home today until 8 p.m. and at Eastside Church of Christ Wednesday from 9 a.m.-noon. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

The family suggests memorials to the Petersburg Cemetery Association, Hospice of Lubbock, Lubbock Children's home, Petersburg Library and the Petersburg Beautification Society.
