Albert Ray Martin, 73, of Tulia passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2011, in Tulia. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011, at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview with the Rev. Jesse Nave of Petersburg officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Albert was born Aug. 18, 1937, to Rufus and Lois Martin in Petersburg, Texas. He grew up and attended schools in Petersburg. He later enlisted in the United States Army where he served two years. He owned a parts store called Al's Automotive in Petersburg and operated it for several years. He then began selling cars in Lubbock, which remained his career until he retired. Albert was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Petersburg. For the last several years he resided in Tulia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Lois Martin; three brothers; and two sisters. Albert is survived by one daughter, Maria "Chubs" Martin LaForce of Marshall, Texas; one son, Shea Martin of New York, N.Y.; three other children, Landon Martin, Todd Martin and Monica Rodgers; two sisters, Corky Assiter of Lubbock, Texas, and Helen Breed of Lubbock, Texas; one brother, R.B.
