Obituary

Graveside services for Robert A. "Bert" Marriott, 74, of Plainview will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008, at Plainview Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview. District Chaplain of Local Post VFW 5399, Floyd Lockridge, will officiate. Bert was born Feb. 4, 1934, in Grandfield, Okla. Bert's family then moved to California in 1942. Bert was a veteran who served in the Navy from 1951-55. While in the Navy he served in the Korean Conflict. He worked in construction before moving to Plainview in 1971 to establish a husband/wife painting team that would last until his retirement. Bert is preceded in death by his wife, Terry, who passed away Feb. 20, 2004. Survivors include one son, Terry A. Marriott and his wife, Dee, of Shingle Springs, Calif.; one adopted daughter, Jennifer Ward and her husband, Cody, of Plainview; one stepdaughter, Pat Glavin and her husband, Matt, of Leui, Utah; one brother, Dan Marriott of Plainview; two nieces, Ronda Lockridge and her husband, Floyd, and Cindy Marriott, all of Plainview; and several other nieces and grandchildren. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m. today, Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
