Marquez, Gumercindo,Sr.

Funeral services for Gumercindo Marquez Sr., 79, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Tim Judd officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home.

Mr. Marquez died at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, in Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton.

He was born May 31, 1923, in Hebbronville. He was a farmer and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He married Julia Ramirez on April 19, 1943, in Hebbronville.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marta Sandoval of Olton and Maria Torres of Plainview; eight sons, Gumercindo Marquez Jr., of Kress, Domingo, Mike and Juan Enrique Marquez, all of Plainview, Ismael, Manuel and Agaston Santos Marquez, all of Hebbronville, and Alfredo Marquez of Falfurrias; two brothers, Guadaluoe Marquez of Blair, Okla., and Domingo Marquez of Freer; three sisters, Hilda Martinez of Freer, Geraldine Gonzales of Alice and Elodia Riojas of Plainview; 28 grandchildren; 19great- grand-children; and one great-grand-daughter.

A daughter, Margarita Marquez, is deceased.
