Marks, J.N. (Jay),Jr.

Lubbock-- Graveside services for J.N. "Jay" Marks Jr., 69, of Lubbock, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Plainview by White Funeral Home.

Following interment, a celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church in Lubbock.

He died Friday, Nov. 14, 2003, in Lubbock.

Mr. Marks was born Aug. 2, 1934, in Lubbock, to the late James Noble and Gladys Lee Campbell Marks. He graduated from Idalou High School and Texas Tech University. He married Greta Heck on June 19, 1954, in Idalou.

He was in agribusiness sales and marketing over many years following an early career of farming before retiring in 1999.

Mr. Marks enjoyed working in the yard and making hospital visits on behalf of First Baptist Church. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Lubbock for many years.

He was a member of Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Thursday Men's Prayer Group and Texas Tech Ex-Students Association.

He formerly was a member of Texas Cotton Ginners Association, Cottonseed Delinters Association, Cotton Inc., and served on the Ag Committee of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Eileen Marks of Winchester, Mass.; two daughters and son-in-law, Christi and William Johnson of Austin and Brenda Marks of Dallas; two sisters, Anna Ruth Hall and Earlene Guess, both of Lubbock; and four grandchildren, Ashley Kelm of Austin, Jason Kelm of Plainview and Henry and Phillip Marks of Winchester, Mass.

The family will recieve families from 2-4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
