Obituary

ABERNATHY - Funeral Mass for Elodia D. Marez, 75, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Isidore Catholic Church. Burial will be in Abernathy Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the same church. Mrs. Marez died Saturday, Sept. 29, 2001. She was born April 9, 1925, in Sinton. She moved to Abernathy in 1974 from New Deal and was a Catholic. On Jan. 1, 1942, she married Jesus Marez in Sinton. He died Aug. 30, 2000. Survivors include a son, Jessie Marez of Abernathy; three daughters, Emma Marez and Elena Marez, both of Abernathy, and Lisa Morrison of Grand Saline; two brothers, Victor Diaz of Sinton and Juan Diaz of Pasadena; a sister, Olivia Castillo of Sinton; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Estella Mares, died June 30, 1992. The family suggests memorials to a favorite charity.
