Trannie Ruth Mapp, 78, of Lubbock died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at Covenant Hospital. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at College Heights Baptist Church in Plainview with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today at Resthaven Funeral Home. The family welcomes everyone to a reception at the church following the committal service. Trannie Ruth Sanders was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Lawn, Texas, to Isaiah Volon Sanders and Maggie Lee Chism Sanders. She graduated from Port, Okla., High School and Southwestern State College. She married Vernon Mapp in 1952 in Hammond, Okla. He died Dec. 3, 2006. Trannie was an elementary teacher in Port, Cotton Center and Hart for 27 years. She retired from teaching in 1990 and moved to Plainview in 1992 where she lived until January 2005 when she moved to Lubbock. Trannie had three main loves in life, those being her faith, family and friends. She also enjoyed her calling as a school teacher and her life as a farm wife. Her parents and two sisters, Dorothy Lorraine Sanders and Verna Lee Perkey, also precede her in death. Trannie's survivors include three daughters, Jana and Frank McCoy of Lubbock, Teresa and Ricky Cavitt of Brownwood and Mary Kaye Mapp of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Canaan and Jordan Cavitt of Brownwood; and three brothers, Bob Sanders of Mustang, Okla., Carl Sanders of Yukon, Okla., and Jim Sanders of Elk City, Okla. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church Building Fund, 802 Quincy, Plainview, TX 79072; or to Coggin Avenue Baptist Church, Vision 100 Building Program, 1815 Coggin Ave., Brownwood, TX 76801.
