Graveside services for Ruby Jean Mahagan, 81, of Plano, formerly of Hale Center, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2013, in the Hale Center Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Cameron, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Services are under the direction of Abell Funeral Home & Flower Shop of Hale Center. Mrs. Mahagan died Saturday morning, Oct. 5, 2013, in Plano. She was born Aug. 30, 1932, in Hale Center to Wallace Picking and Lillian Cloye (Hail) Cagle. She married C.W. Overman, and after his death, she married Melvin Mahagan, who also preceded her in death. She lived in Hale Center until 2009, when she moved to Plano. She owned and operated a women's clothing store, A Personal Touch, in Hale Center. She was an artist, painting in oils and watercolor mediums and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hale Center. She was also a member of the Belles and Bows Square Dance and Happy Hearts Round Dance Clubs. She was preceded in death by her husbands; three brothers, Buddy Cagle, Bobby Cagle and Leslie Cagle; one sister, Shari Cagle; a stepson, Alan Mahagan; and grandson, Keith Alan Mahagan. She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Stokes and husband Joe of Plano; one son, Steve Overman and partner Rob Adams of Seattle; two stepsons, Leslie Mahagan and wife Joan of Braintree, Mass., and Roger Mahagan and wife Linda of Hale Center, 10 grandchildren, Erica Montague, Grant Montague, Kelly Page, Lori Bentson, Courtnei Barrera, Ashlei Herron, Sarah Goree, Kristi Wyatt, Matthew Mahagan and Allan Mahagan; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be sent to the First United Methodist Church, or to the Hale Center Cemetery.
