KRESS - Funeral services for Lewis G. Mahagan, 77, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Lemons Memorial Chapel in Plainview with the Rev. Truett Kuensler, former pastor of Claytonville Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Mahagan died at 5:05 p.m. Monday, July 22, 2002, in Palo Duro Nursing Home in Claude. He was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Plainview. He grew up in the Petersburg area and attended Ellen schools. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. He moved to Swisher County in 1943 where he farmed and ranched. He sold vegetables at Lubbock Farmer?s Market for the past few years. He was a member of Claytonville First Baptist Church. On July 19, 1943, he married Audrey Young in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellen and Mac Hill of Fort Stockton and Kay and Brian Henry of Amarillo; a son and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Glenda Mahagan of Claytonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Ruby Mahagan of Hale Center; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. A brother, Richard Mahagan, is deceased.
