Obituary
Services for Arthur R. Mahagan, 74, of Abernathy will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Perez officiating.
Burial will be in the Strip Cemetery under the direction of Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy.
He died Friday, Feb. 22, 2002.
He was born Jan. 8, 1928, in Petersburg. He married Evelyn Lucille Mahagan on April 4, 1958, in Clovis, N.M. He was a Korean War veteran. He lived in Petersburg until moving to Abernathy in 1962. He was a farmer and worked for many years at Joe Thompson Implement until retiring.
A son, James F. Vandygriff, died in December 1996.
Survivors include five sons, Clyde Vandygriff of Abernathy, Ronnie Vandygriff and Mike Vandygriff, both of Houston, Rodney Mahagan of Lafayette, La., and Arthur Raymond Mahagan Jr. of Denver; a daughter, Linda Puckett of Post; a brother, Waymond of Dallas; a sister, Leona of Lubbock; 22 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be sent to the Northside Baptist Church, 400 North Drive, Abernathy, TX 79311.
