Macias, Demetrio

Demetrio Macias of Abernathy passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2007, at the age of 73.

He was born on Dec. 20, 1933, in Mexico, to Faustino Macias and Lola (Martinez) Macias. He moved to Idalou and in 1965 he moved to Abernathy. Demetrio married Guadalupe Leal in 1959 in Lubbock. He worked as a farmer and was a member of the Primera Iglesia Bautista in Petersburg.

Demetrio was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2001; a daughter, Elodia Macias in 1963; and sister, Anita Macias.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. today, June 26, 2007, at White Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at One Cross Three Nails in Abernathy, with Rev. Emilio Sauceda officiating. Demetrio will lie in state at One Cross Three Nails from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2007, until service time. Interment will follow in Abernathy Cemetery.
