Obituary

Funeral services for Ruth Nell Burk Lyde, 89, were at 10 a.m. today at Main Street Church of Christ in Petersburg with Owen Carr officiating, assisted by Randall Carr. Burial was in Petersburg Cemetery by White Funeral Home of Idalou. Mrs. Lyde died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2006, in Lubbock. She was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Hollis, Okla., to Ivy Noland and "Susie" Laura A. Minor Burk. She married Blake Lyde on July 3, 1937, in Canyon. He died Dec. 13, 2004. She received her master's degree in education and was an educational diagnostician before retiring in 1980. She was a member of the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce, Senior Citizens, Retired Teacher's Association, LCU Association and the South Plains Antique Tractor Association. She was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Petersburg. Survivors include two sons, Larry Lyde of Petersburg and Melton Lyde of Westminster, Colo.; one daughter, Lynette Truitt of Georgetown; two sisters, Ruby Ingalls of Amarillo and Mary Oldham of Del Norte Colo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Her parents, husband and one brother, Norman Burk, are deceased.
