Obituary
Barbara Lusk of Plainview and Lubbock went on to join her Heavenly Father on July 7, 2009. Barbara was born to parents Julius and Flora Belle Grittman on the Fourth of July, 1927, in Sunflower County, Mississippi. Barbara graduated from Drew High School in Mississippi and attended Mississippi College, the University of Alabama and the Denver Children's Hospital Nursing program. She married B.T. Lusk on Jan, 11, 1953, in Cleveland, Miss. They moved west to Plainview in 1961 to raise their four children. Barbara was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview. She sang in the choir and considered it an honor to participate in such productions as "The Seven Last Words" and the "Living Christmas Tree." She volunteered there as choir teacher, Sunday school teacher, Wednesday night cook, WMU leader and youth trip sponsor. She arranged the meals for the River Ministry Mission trips to the Rio Grande Valley for 20 years. Her work in association with the River Ministry represented a labor of love. Barbara was an active Girl Scout leader at both the local and district levels for many years. For 20 years she drove a school bus for the Plainview Independent School District and made a positive impact on her students' lives. Her creative outlets included sewing, cooking, gardening, singing, traveling and loving on her grandchildren. Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kathryn Knox. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, B.T. Lusk; her son, Tommy Lusk of Doddsville, Miss.; her daughter, Lillian Arzaghi, husband, Mehdi, children, Safa and Behnam of Lubbock; her son, Claude Lusk, wife, Paula, children, Claudia, Crosslyn and Caleb of Plainview; and her son-in-law, Dan Knox, children, Lee and Julia of Wyoming. She is also survived by her brother, Herschell Grittman of Redmond, Wash.; and sister, Glenda Salley of Florida. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Mission Fund of First Baptist Church in Plainview. Celebration of Life Services for Barbara will be held on Saturday, July 18 (a week from this Saturday) at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of First Baptist Church of Plainview, Texas. A time of fellowship and visitation with the family will be held in the Pavilion of First Baptist Church immediately following the services. Plainview Daily Herald - 7-9-09
