Obituary

Funeral services for Doris Stone Lucero, 75, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Hale Center with Terry W. Jones, chaplain of Advanced Home Health and Hospice, and Dr. Carroll Green, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Hale Center Cemetery by Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Mrs. Lucero died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, in Plainview. She was born Aug. 30, 1933, in Yeso, N.M. She married William Lucero on Dec. 8, 1952, in Clovis, N.M. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW and a Baptist. Survivors include her husband; one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Sabrina Lucero of Hale Center; six daughters and four sons-in-law, Yvonne Lucero, Sylvia and John Payne, Esther and Rodney Perkins and Christina and Michael Stevens, all of Amarillo, and Patsy Botello and Sandra and Tony Martin, all of Lubbock; two brothers, Ernest Stone of Spearman and Benjamin Stone of Amarillo; three sisters, Cecilia Mendez of Amarillo, Lucy Gutierrez of Odom and Pauline Garcia of Tucson, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A brother, Manuel Stone, is deceased. The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, 3411 73rd St., Lubbock, TX 79423.
