Obituary
Services for Grady Loyd, 81, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Luke's United Methodist Church with the Revs. Johnny Williams and Matt Wolffington officiating.
Burial will be at Abernathy Cemetery under the direction of Franklin-Bartley Funeral Home of Lubbock.
He died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Lubbock.
He was born Sept. 15, 1921, in Atkins, Ark. He was a Lubbock resident for 19 years after moving from Seagraves. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy and served in the South Pacific. He married Mary Lucy Settle in May 1947. She preceded him in death. He married Juanita Settle on Dec. 26, 1970, in Abernathy. He worked for Southwestern Public Service Company as a shift foreman for 36 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where he had served on the board and was involved in the Stephen's Ministry. He was a 32nd Degree Mason.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ron Loyd of Lubbock, Gordon Settle of Lewisville and Randy Settle of Granbury; a brother, Don Loyd of Fort Smith, Ark.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
