Obituary

Funeral Mass for Kristen Danielle Lopez, 15, will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Theresa's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Smith and the Rev. Reymundo Rodriquez officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home of Hale Center. Rosary will be recited at 7 tonight at the church. Miss Lopez died Thursday evening, March 9, 2006, in Hale Center. She was born to Christopher S. "Toby" and Donna Pearl Calderon Lopez on April 19, 1990, in Plainview. She was a sophomore at Hale Center High School where she was on the varsity girls basketball team, track team and cross country team. She was in the band and was involved in the Gifted and Talented (GT) program, was a class officer and member of the student government. She was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church and loved to read. Survivors include her parents; two sisters, Denise Lopez and Kailea Eloisa Lopez; grandparents, Jimmy and Dora Calderon and Joe and Anita Betancur; and her great-grandfather, Simon Martinez, all of Hale Center.
